Default Royal Python Record Keeping software.

Finally pulled my finger out to stop Dracowoman from complaining about the amount of paper records living in the snake room. This was hers and the royals’ Christmas Present.

I’ve written some software to store and retrieve information on your collection of Royal Pythons, which is currently in the final test stage. Some of the key features are listed below. This software will be available hopefully some time in January and will be Free of charge.

Key Features of Software :-

Create a new snake record with a printed barcode Including Snake Name/Sex/Morph
(No specific label printer is required. Any printer will be able to print the labels)

Store information via Barcode on your collection of royals including .Feeding, Shedding and Cleaning.

Store breeding information on Pairs of Snakes.

Picture ID profiles for reference.

Show total number of snakes owned with Male/Female ratio’s

Show all your snakes with key information

Show all offspring by Sire/Dam or Both

Show all Snakes sold

Show all available snakes by Sex/Morph or both

Show all events by single snake

Show Breeding events (Lock’s etc) by pair of snakes.

More feautres are currenly being planned including an Advert writer and possible USB weighing scales.

You will need the following for the software to operate.

A printer attached to the PC you are running the software on
A USB Barcode reader attached to the PC running the software. (Available on the net for £20 - £25)

In order to keep the cost of using this software down it has been designed to use an attached barcode scanner (Which are far cheaper than dockable scanners)

And what else do you get for the woman who has everything, apart from some nice custom written software that will save time and will be fun to play with I know, I'm sad but the barcode scanner is fun!! Was a nice suprise though as I didn't know he was writing it, he can be very sneaky sometimes

Excellent news. Can't wait to have a go with this as it's a real chore already with only 30 royals using MS Excel....!!!

Good for you mate.....

out of curiosity do these barcode scanners store info until going back to the PC. It might be more awkward having a scanner connected to the laptop etc?

The one we are using has a cable as it's the cheapest way of doing it, but you can always add a long extension cable if needed. Himseslf will be able to answer the technical question of the remote or docking scanners, I know he looked at getting a wireless version and it was £300!! I'd rather be a cheap arse!!

Just had a look around ebay and all you'll need is a USB extension cable as the average cable supplied is only 2m long....

Can't wait to get my hands on this software though

The one we have was from Ebay, and just needs an extansion cable, though in my snake room 2M should more than do it, you can barely swing a mouse in there And the netbook will finally have a proper use
