Default Safe plant for chameleon??

I just bought a large plant from homebase for my sub adult chameleon viv. The label just says Foilage plant and the staff had no idea what the real name was.

It was with some large Umbrella plants (Schefflera) and large ficuses, and these are both safe. I dont want to take it out of the bag incase i have to go back and swap it. I got this one cos its really nice and i have the others already.

Can anyone ID this plant for me so i can check it is chameleon friendly??

It looks like a Croton to me. Yes it is safe to put in Oz's house. I bought one for Amy when she was smaller (it was a real bargain too) but the little moo hated it and sat on the other side of the viv staring at it until I removed it! I think it was the red leaves that she didn't like. It's a shame as it looked really nice. I also found that it wasn't branchy enough as they do like to climb on their plants. It'll probably be ok while Oz is still little though. If Amy climbed on hers now it would topple over (she's a l'il fatty, bless)!

Edit - another great plant that they love to eat is a Hibiscus. Sadly they are not found in the UK til the summer months. I never found any in B&Q but have brought several from local garden centres - if you have a Thomspons Garden Centre near you they sell nice Hibiscus plants!

ideal plants and safe for chams are:

weeping fig - ficus benjamina
creeping fig - ficus primila
parasol plant - hibiscus
umberella plant - schefflera
devils ivy - pothos

just make sure they are wiped down with room temp water and perhaps re-pot them with chem free soil, perhaps peat.

Thanks. Oz seems to be fine with it, he is climbing all over it. Problem is it has drooped loads, i think its because of the heat in there. I may replace it but its a shame as its really nice. May even try take it back to the shop lol. Im posting pics of the viv and Oz now x
