i agree karen. couldnt the police get involved now, or the fraud squad surely. cause it is fraud.

scammer spotting tips;

1) Always click on the IP Check button that is under each advert, any African IP's stear clear of, any 'satelite' ips will need to double checking. Also note that some users on AOL will have an American IP for their location due to re-routing by AOL.

2) Ask for a phone number and CALL IT, double check it is UK number and listen out for a correct dialing code.

3) Payment, NEVER use western union or any other non traceable method. Cash on collection or cheque is best.

4) Ask for references, IF spending a large amount of money, ask for a reference or even post up on a forum asking if anyone has dealt with them.

5) And never forget, if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably isn't

dont hand over cash at all till you are picking the rep up, or unless you know and trust the seller.

Be sensible about it and all should be okay.
The majority of classified i look at on there are from forum members - the only purchase i made over the classifieds was from sue on here so i knew she was genuine.

Its quite easy to spot scammers.
I recently had some email contact with a guy (I later found out he was from cameroon)

Try to get the emailsource (In hotmail, right click on the sender in your inbox, click on "view source" or something)
Select everything (CRTL-A)
Copy everything (CRTL-C)
And paste (CTRL-V) everything in the box on this website
http://www.ip-adress.com/trace_email/#result

It will show you the exact street the sender is in ;)
