Default Crestie gecko help

Hi all. I have an amazing crestie but sadly for the last week have not dedicated the time he/she really deserves. He normally comes out daily for a wander around myself or daughter. Anyway, things settled again now and I got him out last night and he has a small hump at the base of his spine! I am angry at myself for not spotting signs earlier. He not been eating as much. I have started getting him out and making sure he eats by encouraging him to lick from my finger - something he seems generally to do. At least I know he is getting a bit of good stuff now.
Anyway - question - can mbd be reversed?

Thanks in advance

Humps like that take longer than a week to develop!

No MBD cannot be reversed but it can be stopped. Do you dust his livefood and put Nutrobal in his CGD?

I appreciate that but no obvious sign a week ago although he wasnt quite himself. Yes he on rephasy crestie food. He not a fan of live food and never touches locusts etc but has the occasional wax worm dusted - but not that fussed tbh. His food is sometimes just mixed and sometimes mixed and then mixed with over ripe banana and vit supplement. He is misted so humidity fine and usually drinks off the side of his viv.

Anything else I can do?

You need to add nutrobal to his repashy mix. Just a sprinkle. You need to do it every time without fail. Avoid banana aswell as this contains potassium and that will stop him absorbing calcium!!

Thank you. If his back legs are a little stuff now will that improve at all? I know the lump can't be reversed but what about movement. He is seemingly not minding licking food off my finger so I know he is eating.

Thanks again

His movement should improve as his bone becomes more dense. MBD causes muscles to weaken and bones become fragile. The bones in the base of his spine have collapsed, causing the hump and the difficulty walking. Give him plenty of nutrobal and calcium for about a week in his repashy and that should help him strengthen his muscles and bones again. The hump will not disappear but his movement should improve.

After a week, just add a tiny bit of nutrobal to his repashy diet every time you mix it. And avoid bananas :) That should prevent this happening again :) Good Luck!
