Default Still Concerned (feeding Crickets)

OK yet another concern in feeding my Beardies Crickets, still not sure how many to put into the Viv, at the moment I have 3 Juvies sharing the same Viv as I am building two others (work and family permitting).

How many is the question, got my son to count some out the other day for the morning feed, this was approx. 100, he put them in for me and they seem to be happy with those and did not look for any more.

This morning (07th March)and putting almost a whole shop bought box in, they seem to be looking around for more and fighting (ISH) more of a chase to the food, to get more Crickets than the other Beardie.

Concerned they may not be getting enough live food, or is this their usual behaviour. (aware they can be more hungry some days than others)

Any ideas, suggestions, I am aware that we should give them 10 to 15 minutes and what they don't eat take back out, BUT I am looking for an average number (if there is such a thing) that I can put in.

My day is very busy, work in a care home, on call, sorting out family, invovled in a rugby club, I do have time for my darling Beardies but I just want to make things as easy as possible when feeding them and not have to run after the Crickets they don't want to eat, (dont like leaving them in the Viv)

ANY SUGGESTIONS, COMMENTS, GUIDANCE PLEASE.

Thank You

Ideally if you can you should try and feed 3 or 4 times a day for baby beardeds.

I used to offer as many as they would eat in each sitting, just tipping a few in at a time until they should no interest. If there were a dozen or so crickets not eaten and running loose in the viv I never bothered taking them out as they aren't really an issue (especially if you leave a piece of carrot to eat).

Beardeds have really strong appetites and if they can't find food when they are hungry they will quite often nibble on cage mates legs or tails.

You could also try making sure there is also leafy greens in the vivs during the tail, just to give them access to something at all times.

Thank's for the advice, I have been watching them as they seem to eat anything that is put in, concerned that I may over-feed them.

They always have fresh Veg and a little fruit ever so many days.

THANK YOU

My beardies have a selection of dark green veg on a daily basis, topped up with something else week by week. This week it's cress, last week it was grated carrot.
Bearded dragons need veg. Not just crickets/locusts/worms etc.
Babies need more insects than veg, but as they grow the balance should shift. meaning your dragon should eat more veg than insects. Can't recall, but believe the information I found state 80% Insect v 20% Veg for babies, and the opposite for adults....

You never said how old they are (or size). Could well be that crickets just don't cut it anymore. You can always try and move them onto locust. They come in many sizes from tiny size 2 to large Adults.

I have 4 juveniles at the moment, about 4-6 mths old. Hard to be exact as they are all rescues. They are fed size 3 locust every 2nd day. Don't really count how many tehy eat as such, but would guess approx 6-8 each....?

Everyone does it differently, but this seems to work for me. Babies get bugs daily, juveniles every 2nd day, sub-adults once a week and then my adults only get 1 tub of large Adult locust every 2nd weekend. (all bugs are dusted with calcium supplement and gut loaded before fed).
