Default Spenceri mating

OK yesterday was quite an exciting day for me. I re-introduced the male to the female they had previously 2 brief supervised introductions of around 15 minutes over December. This time I wanted to leave the male for several hours providing everything went to plan. You could see he was excited again by the scent of the female as soon as he entered her enclosure. He followed her around with gentle tongue flicking and within 45 minutes they were copulating. This carried on and off for around 8 hours until I decided to remove him. He will go back with her in a few days time, over the next couple of weeks I will keep placing him back with her to make sure I get a few successful copulations.

Then I will try him with female No2

Managed to get a pic before my battery went dead.

It is the same as for any of the Aussie varanus apart from spenceri has the shorted incubation time of the medium-large monitors around 3-4 months.

Big congrats :)

Have you done anything to stimulate them except keeping them seperated ?
