Please sign the petition to the United States Fish and Wildlife Services to give the Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake (Crotalus adamanteus) protection due to their numbers decreasing in the wild.

Cheers!

Bump.

Quite disappointing really isn't it? I post a thread about getting a DWAL and I get a thousand views within a day or two....I post a thread for reptile conservation, and not even 30! Just goes to show how little some of you care about wild populations of reptiles....

Blimey, for once you have said something I agree with! It is very sad to see the regular disparity between the interest many have in captive animals, and the near-apathy regarding conservation.

Then again, it may be that some feel this petition will be futile.

Absolutely. I don't think some people quite "get" that without wild animals, we wouldn't have captive animals in the first place. It's about giving something back, and signing this petition will only take thirty seconds of one's time, if that.

I agree that apathy towards wild herps among herpetoculturists is a serious issue but you can't force people to be interested in something they're not or something that will have absolutely no effect on what they're doing.

Have you also considered that since the thread title says exactly what the thread is about many may have already seen and signed the petition since it's been posted and shared all over facebook and many other herp related forums esp. the American ones?

There are well over 10,000 members on here....Probably pushing closer to 12,000-15,000 now....I don't believe for a second that even 10% of those people have seen this posted on Facebook or other forums.

Filled out the form but could not send it. Sorry, did try. Maybe others are having the same problem.

Why? because less than 1000 people have signed the petition?

It doesn't meant they haven't seen it. It just means they haven't signed it.

I'm in agreement with you that it's a shame there isn't a million names on that petition but like I said you can't force people to sign something they don't care about or have no interest in

They need to make it easier to sign.

If it was any easier, you wouldn't even need to sign it.
