Default A few hours in the sun...

...can yield some surprising results. Around 3pm the grass snakes start to become active in this great weather we've been having, while the adders remain hidden. Once the grass snakes have mostly begun to hide, the adders start to emerge at around 5pm. Seeing 7 grass snakes, 7 adders, a slowworm and a common lizard isn't a bad way to spend an afternoon

Here's a young male grass snake, the first to be seen:

We decided to kill it:

This one had just eaten a frog:

Sadly I wasn't the one to spot this rather well-hidden adder:

But I did see this one:

All in all, a good day!

Great stuff. I really like that first shot. They really do a bad impersonation of a dead snake don't they? lol

No decent ones TBH, which is why I went back to try some better shots. Did get some good video that first day though (of the grass snakes and slowworms):

You're going to have to come down here soon though - I saw my first black adder today, and guess what? I forgot my memory card.
'trw' should have some shots though.

It was a shame, the pictures would have been epic from your camera... I'm almost embarressed to put up my efforts from my battered old Nokia, but here they are in case anybody calls "pic or it didn't happen"

I'm looking forward to seeing how trw's piccies came out from his beast of a camera!
