Default Stupidity always makes a good story

Hiker tells of her terror after a poisonous snake bit her as she held it for a photo - The Daily Record

She got lucky.....If the size of the snake described is anywhere near accurate, that's a very large female!

I'm surprised the mods let you on this part of the forum as all you seem to do is link and share stuff like you do on facebook plus you have a knack of winding up folks on here too.

If you do not know about the snake and you have no experience of them you should leave them alone.

It is idiot humans who give the snake a bad name, the poor snake is just doing what comes natural.

When will the idiots learn to leave them alone.

I posted a similar (however much more blunt) response on the actual article this morning, and I had a very well known and respected academic herpetologist contact me suggesting I should take it down - yes, they were ignorant, but I have to at least respect their enthusiasm, and I'm quite surprised they managed to even catch it - adders are quick!

Yet it was only a month ago that you wrote this:

I'd actually more so want to catch adders (and other snakes) for that closer look (and a few photos too)

Indeed, but I have an idea of what I am doing, and I'm aware of the risks involved, and I certainly will not make the papers if I **** up. The general public don't have a clue about exactly how dangerous adder bites can be, whereas I (and pretty much everybody else that's in to venomous snakes) do.

I'm responsible for my own safety, I'm also responsible for making sure that the press doesn't get involved if I am bitten - many other people aren't.
