Have read somewhere that this is made of untreated raw spruce/fir which i was led to believe is a no-no for reptiles. Anybody clarify this.

Not heard of that, We sell loads and i have personaly used it for years and nver had a problem. Awesome substrate.

I use eco earth in all mine, but this sounds interesting, haven't had any problems and it absorbs smells etc but I don't get a nice smell from it unless it's dampened for shedding, a nice smalling room sounds like a bonus x
