yup Barney, they are indeed on a mirror, to get the background dark I laid the mirror on the floor in a dark room (a room with soft lighting i.e an energy saving bulb) and i put the flash on, this brought the snake out and darkened the background, the mirror had a few flecks on it so I opened the photos up in paint shop pro and got rid of the flecks & used the darken brush to make the background even darker.
annoyingly, there was also about 3 reflections of the snake so i used the blone brush to get rid of those too. really rather highly edited photo to be honest |
