if you were to want a quote for underfloor heating, if you give me the dimensions of the floor you'd want to heat, i could get you the cheapest prices around, made my a company called myheat.

Hi Steve, I remember you mentioning this so glad to see you've gone for it

You may remember me saying I use a summer house as well...

I just wanted to let you know that with the hot weather we've had lately, the inside of my cabin is hitting 80 degrees!!

This has left me with rather a big worry with summer coming up...

Are u confident the insulation will keep the temps stable? I'm seriously worried it will get too hot in my cabin over the summer...obviously I can switch all vivarium and RUB heating off during the day but if the ambient temp exceeds 90+ degrees then I feel I'd have no choice but to bring them all into the house...which will be an absolute nightmare :-(

I really don't think you would have a problem that far north. Worse case scenario you could add ceiling venting for the evening. They do make vents that are thermostatically controlled.

A small window A/C unit could also be used but I can't remember seeing many of those in the UK.

Yeah I know what you mean, the room they are housed in at the moment gets the sun all day and can be a pain in the summer, so in answer to your question I'm not sure. As EJ has said I think a small A/C is probably the way I will go, you can get heat pumps that both heat and cool so I am going to look into one of those rather than the oil filled rad I currently use. I can't even begin to think about moving them in and out of the room and the house. Will dig some links out for you for what I'm thinking of.

It's most if the way there now, still more electrics to do but it is in use and has been for a whole now. I'm away from home at the moment but will get some more pictures up once I'm back.

It's held temperature well during the summer, so waiting to see how it fairs during the colder months. I've got a data logger to monitor this, just have to set it up and get started.

Only just seen this thread, but it's a great build!
Definatly something I'll probably have as an alternative to using a room in the house.
